Hello!

I’m Rajeshwari, and this is my very 1st attempt at Coding, so there are mixed feeling regarding this! The class was super fun and informative, it almost felt like I could do anything with code, ALMOST!. I got done with the worksheet pretty easy, although Q2 of the worksheet 1 was tough to crack.

I actually finished the self portrait first, as I was super pumped regarding the newly learnt tools and commands! Little did I know, that I actually have a lot to learn. It did humble me to a great extent! I struggled initially with the placement of the forms, a lot actually. The trial and error was great, and was getting kind of frustrating!

Next was the HAIR! I imagined a future self, with wavy hair, but, to my dismay, even after looking at “how to draw wave in p5?” I could not get the answer to it! I looked up the library for “sin”, “wave”, but I could not understand anything! I thought of making it by arcs, but that would not have the same impact as I had in my mind.

Then I thought to myself, why not draw a previous version of me, noone over here as seen, who had no spectacles, long hair, and used to wear braids! After a lot of figuring out, I did achieve it! I purposefully did not draw the nose, as it was not fitting in the aesthetic of the portrait I had in mind.

Next was the question 3 in the worksheet! It was pretty straight forward! I enjoyed drawing it thoroughly. Initially I was struggling with the sequence of the shapes as my ellipse was taking the stroke weight of the line prior to it, but then I understood the importance of the “noStroke” command! It was great after that.

All in all, it was an insanely productive and fun week! I look forward to many more of these sessions by Prof. Dave!
